paypal say noo?

really sorry my first lot of ebaying has resulted in a few querries.

sold a bridesmaid dress at the weekend and on tues the money when to paypal.
I went to check all was well with paypal before posting and they had put a hold on it saying it needed checking as it might be fraudulent.

when I looked the paypal person, the email address and the buyers name appeared to be 2 different people.

I emailed buyer saying contact paypal to sort it and paypal said don't post it.

The buyer has now contacted me saying that it was her friends account she has never had any trouble before and asked me how else she can pay me.

she has a low star score

should I refuse to deal with her unless it comes via paypal or should I accept a cheque?

Or should I just offer it to the next person who bidded for it?

Never send it until Paypal give you the all clear. I've had this a couple of times and in one instance, it saved me from losing a £500 laptop.

I regularly get two different names/addresses with the Ebay one being different to the Paypal but the Paypal is the only one I send to.

Low stars is irrelevant as that is seller performance only and doesn't relate to buyer performance.

A cheque is worse than Paypal. Accept only direct payment or bank transfer into your bank account. Its OK to give her the sort code and account number - you don't need to give any other info.

A bank transfer would be fine as long as the funds are in your account before you send the goods. No paypal fees, so free for you both. The buyer will have no more info than if you had sent her a cheque for something.

Have you ever written a cheque? The account number and sort code is on every cheque. Just give them the account number and sort code - they don't need the name the account is in or the address of the account holder. The only reason Jeremy Clark got screwed was the account holders name was known.

As long as you let it clear in the 2-4-6 system before you post this avoids PP fees and is as safe as a bank transfer. Not so good for the buyer as they will need to wait longer.
