  • Hi

Recently ordered a PC from Mesh (I know, I know :( ) and paid by visa debit card.

They havent delivered it and its been 20 days since ordered. I had a call from the person that took my order explaining because the company was under they cancelled my order and said I would have to contact the administrators.

If I had paid by credit card I would go down the usual route but can I use the visa debit chargeback scheme in this situation?

    Thanks

I wonder if there is someone with specific knowledge or experience that can help.

I ordered a Mesh computer and paid via credit card. They faffed about with delivery dates and after a month of waiting I cancelled. They then faffed about with refund dates ( but did say on 26th April they would refund within 15-30 days) but I didn't get a refund. In meantime I'd contacted credit card co who led me to believe that if the 30 days came and went without the refund ( which is what happened ) they would sort matters.

I contacted them - Credit card co - ( 25th 26th May ? ) after the 30 days and they said refund would be coming through. Just after that ( on 31st May ) Mesh went into administration. Credit card company did'nt know this until I told them ( ! ) and now say that I ( ! ) should send a proof of debt form to the administrators.

The reasoning I've been given is that whilst the administrators are saying, and I quote: "...If you have made a payment via credit card for goods due to be delivered by Mesh Computers and these goods have not been received, then you should contact your credit card provider immediately to discuss the possibility of a refund. Under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, you may be entitled to claim a refund for purchases between £100 and £30,000." The credit card company says that NOT DELIVERED ( because the order was cancelled ) is not the same as NOT REFUNDED

Does anyone know - for reasonably sure - how I stand on this ?

    Hi Rory,
I also recently cancelled an order and requested a refund from Mesh (without success).
Mesh usually then send out an email confirming that they are going to refund you the cost ('within 15 - 30 days').
I sent a copy of this email to Barclaycard and they accepted that the order was cancelled and credited me the monies.
I believe that the confirmation email should be sufficient to prove that the order was cancelled.

  • Damn, quite a few people stuck in the middle with their refunds/orders.

Not sure where I'm going to stand as it was Mesh that cancelled the order when they went into administration and not me cancelling it and requesting a refund.

I'm going to HSBC to enquire about a visa debit charge back but if that doesnt work i'll have to settle with going through the administrators. I've got the form ready but all I want is a new PC!! I even bought some new games to play and these are just going to be collecting dust :(

I'll update my post with what the bank say.
  • Well, checked my bank account this morning and HSBC have refunded the money I paid to Mesh. About 5 days after I posted everything off to them.

Those of you who have paid by Visa Debit I would strongly recommend the Visa ChargeBack route through your bank :)

    Happy days!
