Have I missed something with this new Talk Talk offer?

I have been a Tiscali customer for 8 years and on the whole, I have not had any real issues with them. I am currently on Talk Talk’s Anytime Talk package (free calls 7/24 to 01, 02 & 03 numbers) and 40GB monthly download limit on broadband. The current package was an 18 month contract which comes to an end in August this year.
I plan to cease the Talk Talk contract at the end of the year as I will be moving jobs and my new employer will be providing me with a new broadband service so don’t want to be tied into any new contract.
Today I had a call from Talk Talk and as a result of being a “loyal customer, etc.” they were offering me a better package for an increase of 3.00 per month. The benefits were free calls to 0845 & 0870, reduced call rates to mobile (50% I believe) and unlimited broadband. I was told that this was not a new contract, just changes to the existing and that if I decide to cease the service after August, I will not be liable for any early termination charges.
So, an extra 3.00 a month seems OK to me for the additional features, but am I missing a trick somewhere?
Thanks
Paul

I'd say you need to get the 'this was not a new contract' bit in writing before you do or agree to anything.
I'd expect a mysterious 18 month contract length to suddenly appear if you don't.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Are the 'benefits' actually worth another £3.00 a month to you anyway? I'd refuse it and leave well alone.
Only TT would sell you a price increase as some kind of reward for loyalty! No free lunch, and no free laptop
