How long do you have to cancel a cheque?

Hi not sure where to post this but I read on here that you have up to a year to cancel cheques is this true?? As I was an agent for farepak and paid mostly by cheque. Please can someone help?

If the cheques have been paid out of your account then you can't stop them.
Probably not the answer you are looking for but your only claim is against the liquidator of the company.0
