...haven't set up direct debit or anything like that yet...

    Calem,

I told you your transaction was entirely routine, but I am surprised Arnold Clark let you take the car without a signed direct debit mandate.

Is there a possibility you signed one as part of the overall paperwork?

Although in my experience the mandate would be on a separate sheet of paper.

Be careful you don't end up with two active car payment direct debits.
