Can someone please tell me how to change the settings on a computer? Every time one clicks on a .mid file from a website to listen to a demo it opens Quick time but it is supposed to open Windows Media Player. How do I change this?

    This should help you:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307859

Basically, right click a.mid file, select open with, choose WMP and select 'always open this type of file with this program, then click apply/OK.

This should make your PC open .mid files with WMP from now on.

I did set Windows Media Player as the default for opening .mid files but it doesn't make any difference. I rebooted the computer in case that would make a difference but it didn't either.

The website is http://midifiles24.de/?___store=english&___from_store=english. I am beginning to think it is something to do with the website, is this possible?

BTW it only seems to have happened since the latest Windows Explorer was installed. The OS is Windows Vista.

Since I couldn't get Quick Time disabled I removed it from the computer. However when I click on one of the links it asks if I want to save the file were as before it opened the file. Has anyone any suggestions how to get the computer to open the link in Windows Media Player when it is clicked on?

    BTW this isn't for me!
