I dont believe will or I have been harsh at all. However, to the OP, accept my apologies if you think I have offered unfair advice in any way.

I asked as to whether the OP is recieving any treatment for depression, as clearly if they are depressed by the debt then of course a) tackle the root cause, ie overspending and b) they havent factored into thier SOA any prescriptoion costs or similar.

I dont think theres anyone of us here who hasnt felt overwhelmed, worried and anxois about the debt situation we find ourselves in. However, being as proactive as possible and taking repsonsiblity can pay massive dividends in terms of mood and spirit, as we see people testifying daily :)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Hi, is your Mum aware of your situation?? Would she be willing to put on hold the payments you make her so that you can put that £100 towards the hp debt for the next 6 months so that you can clear that one or otherwise your situation will get worse to the tune of £1400. Unless she desperately needs that money I'm imagining she would rather let you clear the hp payments and then carry on paying her her money rather than see you suffer more.
    Good luck though!!

I think you should try and cut down on going out, that was one of the big factors we had to cut down on when we started trying to sort out our finances.

To make things easier on ourselves we have nights where we go to friends homes or they come to ours for a meal and a chat, works out quite well.

We also save nectar points through our shopping and whenever we have 400 points we get a free rental from Blockbusters.

I think time does need to be spent over shopping as you could pick up some real bargains, we picked up a huge pack of leeks for 22p and made a vat of Leek and Potato soup which we froze in portions.

Is there any possibility you could get a part time job to top up your finances? If you enjoy going out perhaps try and get a job at a place you like going to i.e. restaurant, bar, gym etc.
