The results were clearcut and to ignore them is, I feel, a huge insult to Moneytight who so kindly offered her services.

I think there is a difference between "chat" about using coupons and where to find the best prices and "drivel" about everything in general.

I hope that all of the other people who voted for a combined thread will continue to post on here as usual.

    I'm with you and mad,,:):):):)
Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one.

never complain about growing old,far too many people have been denied that privilege.

For those that weren't on this thread a couple of years ago I used to do the first page updates. The exact same question came up "to chat or not to chat" some people didn't want to read pages and pages of jokes and chit chat.
After weeks of polls, arguing, some people flouncing off, huffs, BG warnings, friendships lost and blood spilt it was decided the main thread would have mocs, moc chat, links to other money saving, moneysaving/shopping chat.
The drivel thread was to be used on occasions when say a few people were on late at night and instead of filling 3/4 pages with jokes/pub news/fit men chat they would move over to the drivel thread to save hardcore moneysavers from reading drivel in the morning (that's why it was in the Arms, as it was not money saving related what so ever) also congratulations, condolences, commiserations, Happy Birthdays were also to be posted in Drivel.

    Hope that helps PC x

That makes sense, and sounds much more workable - and also useful, to have other tit bits of money saving advice on here but not random "Good Mornings", "Happy Birthdays" and "Whats for tea tonight" :o

    Thanks PC, Cuckoo. x

Not working for T's but Sains and would assume that no one is in cash office on sundays cos of Tillcounts are done on a sunday morning before trade . Supermarkets weeks start on sundays also less trade in store therefore less staff and anyone in from cash office would only do price checks and price changes and they would only be in until 11 as pricechanges needs to be done by 10.30.
    Perhaps that helped?:)

Thanks, thought that was probably the case as I remember reading something on www.verylittlehelps.com about cash office staff having their hours reduced and when I used to do end of day pod count on the occasional Sunday that I worked for them, it would just be Teamleaders and Duty Manager in the office.

I got Trouted today  with my conditional spends, wanted to use 2 x £5 off £40 coupons (which expired today) having spent over £80 and was told one per transaction. When I asked to void off £40 of items to make two transactions, I was told one coupon per customer.
I made a lot of fuss about knowing policy, and contacting Head Office but Trout wouldn't listen. Took me to CSD and rang cash office to check their policy. Came back and told me they had a list in the cash office and I could definately not use 2 conditional spends.
I asked her to check the policy file at CSD but she just told me that cash office hed the correct details. I wonder who she spoke to if there was no-one working in the cash office on a Sunday afternoon????? I smell a rat here.
I protested that I regularly used more than 1 conditional spend and even named the Teamleader that put mine through the other night, but was told they shouldn't have been taken.
I suspect this Teamleader wasn't very experienced as when she put my 1 conditional spend through the till, it was incorrectly entered as a coupon instead of a competitor coupon, so their figures won't match up when they reconcile.
Obviously I will be emailing Head Office to complain and as I said to her asI left, they will reimburse me (fingers crossed) and the Store Manager will get a phone call about re-training staff. I've done this before and I will continue to complain until they follow policy correctly and consistently.
    Rant over:mad: :)

From what I can tell the drivel thread is general chat, a lot of it is centred around money saving in the supermarket, offers, glitches, competitions etc. However, so was this!

Im just bewildered that despite a poll we were all hurried into voting on the results were obviously not what was expected/wanted and therefore completely overturned.

If I were MT Id be feeling a little p*d off tbh.

My dilemma - my style of posting tends to be a little bit of moc/wombling/money saving banter which I don't feel can be separated. It is just not me! So where do I post?

As far as I can tell, It shouldn't be a problem to post about wombling, money saving, comps etc - just not about general "drivel" ; you know, "Hello, Goodbye, dinner or happy Birthdays"
