Evening all :)

Thought I would just ask some advice on my current situation as I am unsure what to do.

I was looking for a used car for around £3500 (I have previously had Ford Focuses and happy enough with them) and as I was looking I came across the KIA Rio which starts at £7,995 for a 1.4 basic model.

I am a little unsure whether to go for an offer I have found of £7,995 for the KIA Rio Domino (like the Rio 1 but with all the extras of A/C, Central Locking, electric windows - yes all unnecessary luxuries I know, but meant to be £9,500.) If I went for this, I would probably pay about £3500-4000 as a deposit and then get finance for the remaining amount at about 7-9%APR - This way peace of mind of the 7 year warranty, no MOT for 3 years etc.

Alternatively, is it a better idea to stick within my means and just spend what I actually have on a used car with no finance for 3 years or so but losing the warranty, reliability of a new car?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Is £7995 including any finance deposit contribution?

If not, you might be able to get it for even less on Kia Access PCP then use the large deposit you have to pay the final payment at the end instead.

New Rio is due soon, hence deals on the current model.

Exactly :rotfl: - I bought a new Picanto for £5550 inc finance contribution a couple of months ago :)

I thought the car drove nice, I wasn't blown away but at the same time, I'm not really buying it for BMW comfort (Im guessing they are comfortable?!) Anyway, for me it is more about the reliability, low running costs and just wanting the back-up of warranty, even if there may still be some costs along the way. I got offered a PCP deal but it was about £3000 deposit, £80 for 3 years and then £3,000 at the end so preferred the finance deal really.

Thanks for everyone's posts so far, much appreciated.

Every one of those "deals" says "after minimum part ex allowance" - and how are they "way better"?

Yeah, I don't have a car so no Part-ex for me

It seems like the Kia Domino is the winner then!

One quick question do you think £7,995 without metallic paint or £8,400 with? Not bothered about appearance but does it have benefits in terms of longer lasting, better protection etc?

    Thanks again,
    Chris

Domino only comes in black or white, right?

I don't think there are benefits in anything other than appearance - I chose white for my Picanto because it was the cheapest but do kinda regret it because it's dirty constantly.
