I have been using them for years as well. They work really well.
They do not have salt in them, they are not an "all-in-one", so you may still need salt in soft water. I guess you could just try it without and see how you go. If drinking glasses come out milky/cloudy, you need to add salt. I live in liquid rock, so I have to add salt no matter which tablets I use.
Handy hint, right next to the value dishwasher tablets is the value dishwasher salt. Same stuff as all the others, but for a quarter of the price.0
