Old oven stuck in kitchen carcass

Options
Hi folks,

We inherited an oven with our house, and it has recently given up the ghost.

As it is wired with a plug, I thought it would be a simple task to swap out with a new one. However, the old one doesn't want to be removed.

The usual screws that would normally hold it in place are missing, but when 'tugged' the oven will move forward just less than a centimetre and no more.

Looking from underneath there doesn't appear to be anything holding it in, so was wondering whether there's so knack to removing it? Is there a magic catch or something?

Brute force and ignorance will get it out!!
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

works for me, although usually I end up having to fix what I have broken doing it though :o
  • Is there a hob above it. Could it be hitting it on its way out.

:D Thanks for that. I'll have a go at getting rough with the oven when I get in from work. ;)
  • I wouldnt get to rough with it as you will be buying more than a new oven . Good Luck

Just a quick update in case any one moves into a house that has been owned by a 'DIY Demon'...

After half-dismantling the oven, and then removing the hob from the worktop above, I discovered that there had been two 'bespoke' metal fixings that had been screwed into the top of the oven and the side of the carcass.

2 minutes later oven was out. ;)

Thanks again for all your advice.

I hate people that decide the manufacturer hasn't put enough fixings in, and decide to add more just in case it decides to fall out. (Even though the other million have been ok.)
