Flat rate tariff comparison?
Do energy companies deliberately make it difficult to compare tariffs? - They all want to give me a quote rather than give me the tariffs in black and white.
I remember seeing a chart that showed the cost broken down as a flat rate (not sure that's the correct term) rather than "first x at y pence and next at z pence". i.e 1 tier not 2 tier pricing.
Basically I have just bought a flat that I will be spending only 1-2 days per week in (I have no idea how to convert that amount of time in to kWh or £p/m) and so want a rate that will give me the best value.

Yes! it is called confusion marketing.
You don't say if you have gas.
Nobody can tell you what is the best value because it depends on where you live, how much gas? and electricity you use and how you want to pay. A flat rate also is no good because there are variable discounts that can favour one tariff over another.
There is only one company that doesn't have a Tier system or daily/monthly standing charge. That company is Ebico, but you need to have really low electricity consumption for them to be cheapest.
If you go to a comparison website like energyhelpline, and 'invent' consumption, you can see all of the details of every tariff available. e.g.
http://www.energyhelpline.com/cashbackmse/fri/Domesticenergy/Domestic/TariffDetails?GasTariff=436216&ElecTariff=436174&RegionCode=50 -
Thanks for that. Yes, it is duel fuel; gas and electric.0
