Silver wedding ring?

Hi. Was just wondering if anyone had chosen a silver wedding ring or ring for their OH! Was considering silver for my OH as he isnt keen on even having a ring and isnt bothered what metal.

Still have to get gold for myself however as thats what my engagement ring is but im wondering how well silver wears. Dont want to get something that will look scratched in a years time.

Alternatively if anyone can recommend another metal it would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

We're having platinum...mainly because of my engagement ring but also it wears well. It does scratch as any other metal but the difference is gold and silver scratches are bits of the metal actually chipping off..so the chip cannot be simpby buffed up. However, with platinum (and perhaps palladium) the scratches aren't chips and the ring can be restored to an 'as new' look with a professional buff. Hope that helps

my OH has a ring made from Tungsten. Very manly - it's what they make drill bits from! Doesn't scratch at all, and is a nice dull sheen. He loves it.

If he isnt keen and doesnt really want one, why are you giving him something that he doesnt want, I'm confused.

McKneff has a point - I know most married men wear rings now, but that hasn't always been the case. If he doesn't want to wear a ring then why make him? He might be happy with a different symbolic item to show his commitment (is there any other jewellery he is happy wearing?), or just be happy with the vows and the legal commitment he is making to you. You don't HAVE to have an outward symbol or proof of your married status.

just googled tungsten and i think thats exactly what im looking for! Thanks so much!

As for platinum, i would love platinum! But unfortunately out of ourprice range.

The reason im lookng for somethng cheap is so he can chose to wear it if and when he wants and if he never does, then it wont be too much of a waste.

Also i remember being single. You always look for the ring! Only joking. He doesnt wear any jewellery including a watch so i think hes a bit afraid of the unknown.

Re your post, I think its you really who wants to put your ''keep off, he's married' stamp on him to be honest.

I think that's a bit harsh to be fair. I want my boyfriend to wear a wedding ring because, well yes, because I want people to see he's married, and I want to wear mine because I want everyone to see I'm married. Nothing wrong with wanting the world to see your relationship.

Tungsten is a good hard metal, titanium is fairly cheap and easily available too.

My hubby wears a silver ring I bought him about 9 years ago, and it still looks pretty good, so it all depends on your budget and how rough he's likely to be on it.

    Hi,

My H2B is having Tungsten too, he has very senstive skin & it's supposed to be good for that & also so strong. He's seen a few he likes & they are very reasonable too, which means I get more of the budget we have to spend on mine:D
