Welcome to MFW!:j
Judging by your SOA, you are in a very good position to have your mortgage paid off in no time.:D0 -

I honestly think you are in the most amazing position. You have a generous income and low outgoings. While you are working away from home you should throw every penny you can at your mortgage.
I will watch your diary with interest, but don't think you will be writing it for that long compared to most. I think you will have your mortgage paid off in no time at all, as long as you keep a tight rein on your cash.
I wish you all the best in your journey to mortgage freedom, which is something I am trying to achieve myself.Mortgage Free in 3-T2 : Started at £151,000 Nov. 2009 Mortgage Free Oct 1st 2015

Thanks for your kind message spidystrider. makes me smile.
Well I have two holidays planned for this year which isnt very money saving but i havent been on holiday in a few years, so i used to travel on a very tight budget so no expensive hotels for me,
im going to barcelona for 4 days and then to new zealand for a month at the end of the year. which im super excited about!!!! going drive around new zealand in a crazy painted campervan...........
so until then the reins are in tight and no expensive spending for. i did really want a new phone but thats put off till next year now!0 -
RTNI while my outgoings are low.....
my 80hour week when working and then the 06:30am phone calls on sunday morning when im supposed to get a lie in (starting work at 9) are not so wonderful!0 -
I don't know whether you've ever looked into matched betting. I got involved a few years ago and made £800 in 6 weeks. It is only for the very focused and controlled though. I gave up on it, as I was starting to gamble some of the cash away and matched betting is definitely nothing to do with gambling.
There is a forum on here with all the info you need, but it takes time to learn how to do it properly and you do seem busy! If you do get a chance though, it might be worth taking a look.Mortgage Free in 3-T2 : Started at £151,000 Nov. 2009 Mortgage Free Oct 1st 2015

looking at my excel sheet , well not mine locoblades!
if i only pay my current amount until the offset to complete and then start paying 1000 a month, then i can be finished by 2019!!! this still seems ages for me!
but i guess rates will be up quite abit by then, so ill probably throw a lot more money at it then.

Hi Tiggerjj
Just thought I'd say hi as one Merchant Navy employee to another! I was very interested to read your thread as I've spent the last few days researching pensions on MSE. I, like you, don't see this as a lifetime career. Although when I say that to the lifers onboard they just smile at me in a very disconcerting way that makes me feel like I'm trapped!
I've been paying the maximum allowable overpayment of my fixed rate mortgage for the last 2 years and have to say it's a good feeling seeing the monthly payments drop year-on-year!
Good luck with your quest for mortgage freedom!
