    All the Thinkpad x60s and x61s I've sold this last fortnight have had BIOS passwords - most of the ones I've sold in the last 2 years have. Its not really an issue as the companies/govt departments they come from set just the admin password so you can't alter security issues you'd leave alone anyway and set the boot order so you can install an OS, select boot menu at start, disable and enable a fair whack of things such as serial and parallel ports and in short, its pretty pointless.

    That's good news :) I unfortunately got caught out with a T40 once that has a BIOS password, and had been set up so you couldn't alter the boot order to reinstall the OS..... had to pop the hdd into a T41 and install it in that machine and then pop it back into the T40 :mad:

    p.s. hammy, you've probably got a set anyways, but I've got a set of gen IBM T4x XPPro install disks if you're interested..all 5 of them.
