Webcam what to buy?

Options
Hope I have posted this in the right place :)

Hi I want to buy a webcam & have been looking at Logitech Pro 9000 but that is only because the man in comet said it was a decent one.

I want to set up skype to talk to my son abroad so want one that will show decent pictures.

Any help would be much appreciated before I go out and buy one.

Thank you

No need to spend a lot of money, have at look at this one and read the reviews:

The quality of the picture sent on a webcam is not just reliant on the webcam, but also what's inside your PC.

Also important is the resolution at the frame rate of 30fps.

Some webcams will quote impressive resolutions, but that is no good if it is at 1fps. :)

This together with what pompeyfaith has written are the main things for which to look out.

Here is an inexpensive option with good specifications. £6.90
  • Many thanks to Knarf44, pompeyfaith & stilltheone for taking the time to reply at least now I know a little more than I did
and wont have to spend a small fortune getting it up and running.

    Thank you.

The are also these webcams that claim they can achieve 160fps. They come in at less than £7.50.

You do get what you pay for,I have the logitech pro 9000 and find it excellent, my daughter lives in Australia and she has noticed the call quality improvement, but as said it's not only the webcam it's what's in you pc as well> With logitech you get "Logitech Vid" which is their VOIP system(skype ish) it works much better than Skype and you have an alternative,oh and it is HD. I would recommend it look online for deals ie amazon.
