Rubber Wall Sound Insulation

MylesBetter
Recently on DIY SOS on BBC-1 the team fitted rubber linings to both walls and floors in a house to sound proof the rooms and I guess add insulation to reduce heating bills.
I have tried to find where to get this stuff from but to no avail'.
Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Thanks, I think I registered for a free estimate before and they never called. I'll try again!
Looks very expensive though when the problem shouldn't be happening in the first place. I have tried police, council, local MLA and nobody cares enough to do a damn thing.
If I got this stuff it would set me back around £5-6k and why should I have to deal with this expense when the neighbours are the problem.0 -

Somewhat cheaper than buying a detached house though?
Modern living and modern day "care bout noon else attitudes" and semi or terraced housing really don't go together so well these days IMO0 -
True on both counts (though I have no experience of hitmen lol)
I could have bought a semi but wanted to be cautious incase base rate goes through the roof in future (ie. 15%) so I could still be ok... unfortunately not a detached.. maybe when I win the lottery this week0 -
One thing to look at is the pointing at first floor level under the floorboards.
In older houses this can have fallen away and there is no sound barrier with next door. Also around the first floor joists. Around the joists use the expanding foam and some normal pointing for the rest. This was one of the problems I found after a engineer did a survey for me.
Maybe a qualified suirveyor can expand on this.
Also the party wall act 1996 should help. Give this the once over or visit your local council for a leaflet on it.0 -
Thanks MylesBetter, I'll have a ponder on this and see what can be done around it.
Have you done anything yet regarding the rubber wall insulation?
I had also been looking about and found gypsum plasterboards may be of use when used with rock wool. http://www.british-gypsum.com/products/plasterboard___accessories/gyproc_acoustic.aspx
Also there's Acoutibloc stuff which looks like it would do a great job but is very expensive both in product and to install..
There are quite afew options out there but knowing which ones are best is the thing, and also something whcih won't cost the earth to install.0
