Cor this packing lark is hard work!!!
Even harder now I have the flu.
I have 3 kids and we exchanged last Thursday with moving date this Thursday.
Everytime I pack 10 boxes ,it seems the things multiply!!!
I keep thinking will I ever be organised to move out on the day???
It'll all be worth it in the end I know, after a long 10 months it will finally be over.
Anybody got any tips for moving day???
I am cleaning as I go along now but I can see it being panic stations on the day with getting kids to school and trying to empty house!!!
Please tell me it all fits into place.

Hopefully moving into new house on Friday myself, can relate to everything you say. If it's not too late I found the following threads quite useful and they will help me sort everything out on friday:

Best of luck. :j0 -
Good luck with the move - hope you will be all unpacked and settled by Christmas. Dont forget to tell Father Christmas the new address or your children will be very disappointed.
My only tip is label all your boxes which room they have to go in, put a kettle, tea, coffee etc etc all together in one box together with the celebratory bottle of champagne or wine to drink when you cant find anything else!0 -
I moved in last Friday and it was manic (I can't lie!). We have two small children too who we had to pack off to school.
My twopenceworth is to pack a luggage with overnight clothes, toothbrushes and clothes for two days (like you're going on holiday). That way, everything you'll need will be to hand.
When I moved, I put everything (bar furniture) in the garage, which meant there weren't thousands of boxes around the house (dangerous for small kids) but it also meant its becoming a bit of a pain searching for things and bringing things out.
Good luck!0 -
Hiya
We moved two weeks ago, and although we moved over three days the last 24 hours were the worst.
And I also don't know where all the stuff came from. In the end, the last stuff was just thrown in wash baskets / black bags and we are still trying to deal with all the unpacking (but no hurry) .
And have that all important kettle, mugs, tea / coffee set up in your new home as soon as possible.
Finally, I never thought I would see the day, but I got thoroughly sick of takeaways !!!0 -
Hi izoomzoom, us too (sick of takeaways)! ewww even the nice posh ones! Its taking me ages to get used to cooking in my new kitchen... :-)0

Us too, and our kitchen cooker is gas and I've never really ever used gas before. Haven't actually [STRIKE]burnt[/STRIKE] cremated anything yet, although H had a real reason to get the extractor working the other day !0 -

You're brave to consider painting too.
We would never have managed, and we have been in the new house two weeks and I haven't even bought a sampling of paint yet.
Got those extra cupboards in last night, so I may be able to empty out a few more boxes.0
