JSA advice

Hi,
I'm wondering if any of you could give me a little advice regarding JSA.
I've now been advised that i'm formally redundant at the end of June ( 4 weeks notice ). But actually finishing at the end of this week.
My question relates to JSA and whether i'm likely to be entitled. My partner works a 40 hour week and i'm assuming i'd need to apply for contribution based JSA. (If i'm eligible).
Does anyone know if my partners income will impact eligibility, if so, if there are limits/thresholds. The Directgov website doesn't appear to be too clear without actually seeming to make an actual application, which i can't do until i'm officially out of work.
I'm sincerely hoping i can find something else before i have to apply for this, though the job market in the North East is rather glum.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Your partners income excludes you from getting Income Based JSA but as you say you would get conribution based as long as you paid Class 1 NI (that the normal sort for employed people) in the last 2 income tax years before this year ie 08-09 and 09-10.
When you claim say you want to claim Contribution based JSA only to save going through all your partners details and savings etc.
You can claim this week, if you are available for and actively seeking work this week.0
