Equifax - Confirm my Identity

Hi
I have recently been the victim of someone being able to link themselves to my Equifax credit report. I have spoken to Equifax who initially told me to raise incidents online which I did and then after 25 days they closed them and told me to write to them instead including copies of my passport, driving license and birth certificate.
I must admit, I am not keen to do this since Equifax allowed this person on my credit report in the first place and therefore I do not have a great deal of trust in them.
Is it normal for them to request this information?

Experian and Equifax are 2 different credit reference agencies. Writing to Equifax about your Experian report isnt really going to get you anywhere. You need to contact ExperianDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

Thanks for the reply, Jen245. I had mistyped. I meant to say Equifax both times (now edited). I have also checked my Experian account and that is clean.0
