Childrens current accounts - help please

Hi, I have 2 boys aged 2 and 4 and they both have a healthy amount of savings secured in various bonds. We did have a Halifax account for both of them in order to be able to pay cheques in but I closed it down when I was told that Halifax will only write cheques over £500 from these accounts. I now have no facility to be able to pay cheques in the boys names into bank accounts and want to open a current acount in order to do this.
I don't want to do regular saving, nor deposit a fixed amount, just want to keep some rainy day money safe.
Any ideas - there do not seem to be current accounts or instant access savings accounts for kids anymore.....

don't virtually all banks and building societies offer childrens savings a/cs
which one's have to looked at?

Every high street bank has current accounts for children. My daughter is with Lloyds and my step daughter with HSBC. Absolutely no problems with depositing cheques and withdrawing the money. What about the Post Office?

Thanks I will check those out, guess I was looking for instant access savings and the ones on MSE all seem to be for Bonds, regular saving or lump sum.

plus they all seem to be for over 11 years old or at the least 7....
