PPI Reclaiming in Armed Forces?

Hi,

My husband was sold PPI as part of his Egg loan a few years ago. Since he is in the armed forces and constantly on various readiness states for the desert, I assume that it would not apply if anything had happened to him whilst "abroad"? Additionally. had he been injured and off work, the MOD would have paid him anyway until he was back at work. To add another layer, he is in a "dangerous occupation" which means that life assurance for us has been tricky to get.

Anyone else claimed PPI misselling due to armed forces status?

Many thanks in advance.

  • I've got a friend doing that, he was serving when he was sold PPI, I'll try and remember to put the result of his claim on here but he's hopeful.

We are with Abacus/AXA for all insurance purposes - house, life etc. There are a number of companies that specialise in armed forces for insurance.

I claimed PPI back (not in Forces) and received it all back eventually.

A few years ago my hubby took out a credit card and a loan with Egg and was paying PPI on both. When I got with him I looked into all his finances and saw this and all it took was one letter to the company and they refunded both lots - about £3000!! They never argued it - just cleared the balance on the loan and sent a cheque for the balance on that and credited the card for that lot.
  • Fantastic - thank you to all who have replied. With two small ones I never seem to get the chance to log on and post, but you are always so helpful. I will nag him now and get those letters sent asap! I will shortly be posting somewhere re getting insurance for holidays etc just in case he gets called forward somewhere while we have summer holiday plans :)
