Hi all, I have had a aftermarket JVC stereo fitted to my BMW 118d, but after 6 visits to the local audio specialists the are unable to solve why the stereo will not hold its presets. As soon as the car is switched off it loses all radio stations and EQ settings. I have brought a £50 cambus lead and its still doing it. They have also already run a lead to the positive what ever that means! Can any one help please?:(

With car stereos a permanent live wire needs to be connected all the time to make sure the stereo has power, this is what stores the memory for the radio stations etc.
It sounds as though the audio shop has either fitted the incorrect cambus lead, or the wiring in your car has been altered.
It sounds as though the permanent live is not connected, but the live which is turned on when the car ignition is on, is connected. If that is the case, those two wires need switching around. It can be a very fiddly and annoying job for a person to do!
The local audio specialists should be able to sort this out very easily, if they can't try taking it somewhere else!0
