Don't confuse the warranty and the SOGA. You may well have no warranty if you build yourself, just as opening a computer and changing components will void its warranty. However, you will still have consumer rights.

Basically with the warranty, if you were riding the bike and the wheel fell off, the shop would say, "fair enough," and would sort it out.

If you were to assemble it yourself, should the same thing happen, you would be sending letters, threatening court cases and all sorts to get the same thing done. The warranty is effectively a convenience service, it is not a right.
