How do I add a photo to a post please? When I click the "insert image" button it says "please enter the url of your images"

You need to host the image somewhere to start with, sites such as Photobucket, Flickr, etc will suffice.

it needs to be hosted somewhere like photobucket or imageshack.us

when you have the url (address of the image) then you can either

type the following

http://www.zootpatrol.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/smiley-face.jpg then

without spaces or the the easy way click on the icon that looks like a mountain postcard that says insert image if you hover over it (may not show when you click reply to post, only when you click quote or advanced reply. you can then paste the image link in that
