If you are self employed, you are exempt from the minimum wage.0

Not necessarily.
If you are a director of your own limited company then min. wage legislation applies where the director works in the business.
Luckily they are unlikely to sue themselves if the company cannot afford it0 -

It would only apply to directors if they had a contract of employment, making them employees, otherwise, they are classed as "officers" of the company, and the minimum wage rules don't apply to officers, only to employees.0
