Someone local to me is having a two storey extension built on to the back of there house to accommodate a roll in lift. Maybe an idea to think of something along the same lines. Won't be cheap though.

As an ex crane and lifting engineer I could design and build anything you want. Still not going to be cheap though. Regulations for any lift to carry passengers as in a projected B+B are very strict . If used as a B+B you would need 6 monthly inspections and certification for your insurance company.

Fair point. Though, I don't have any intention of running a B&B just thought it might be added value to someone who might if we ever sold up.

You have got me thinking now..... I used to work in materials handling and my BIL was a fabricator for express lifts - maybe we could do something ourselves with a little bit of added expertise.:T

Thanks. This was where I was thinking but I would want to retrofit it inside the existing building. Do you know them well enough to find out how much the lift bit was costing? I've got no idea whether the budget should be £10k, £20K etc.....

the ones ive seen before are a bit like this one.
sorry but ive no idea the cost involved, but i imagine not much change from say 5k. ish.

as regards the house at a later date. reinstating the house to a normal design, should not be that expensive.

Not really we just had the letter around regarding if anyone wants to object.

Just found this looks like the application was refused but you may get some useful info from the documents.

Thanks. I did see one of them available second hand for £3500. Looks like it was designed in the 40's but I suppose it serves a purpose. Not for me though.
