Single Trip Insurance Extension Beyond End Date

Hi, What would happen if I take out a single trip insurance for the period of my holiday and whilst there I become ill and have to stay longer? Would the insurance cover be extended to cover anything else that might happen? I have always had annual insurance so never been bothered by this.

Yes you phone the Insurers emergency helpline and they would extend. Presumably if you were ill, they would want a doctors note from where you are staying abroad. They wouldn't take your word for it. e.g you were just drunk the night before the flight and could not make it.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
