First family holiday abroad.

I'm planning on booking a family package holiday for summer 2012 for 5 people myself my wife and a 18yr old, 11 yr old and a 7yr old, due to one thing or another we have never been able to afford a holiday abroad but things are getting easier with our finances and have decided to book for next year which will give us plenty of time to pay for it.
We want to go all inclusive for 14 nights and it has to be during school holiday as we don't want our 11 yr old to miss the end of his time in junior school or the start of high school.
So i would be grateful if anyone could help with ideas for great family destinations/hotels, and which websites people use to get the best deals.
Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Richard,

The ages are for next year so the eldest will be 18, and he wants to come as we have never been away together and it will probably be his last chance. We know it'll be more expensive but have 12 months to save.

My 12 year old daughter and 18 year old son absolutely love San Miguel Hotel and Beachclub in Puerto San Miguel Ibiza so we return for our 4th year running in July. My son meets up with the same crowd every year and has a ball. Some of them are older than him and in Uni but still insist on coming to San miguel with their parents. There are only a few bars outside the hotel complex which they tend to frequent so it's reassuring to know they can't go far. A crowd of them went to Ibiza Rocks in San Antonio last year and it was nice to know they were all together (son was 17 at the time). Expect he'll go more often this year but depends how much he manages to save.
My daughter also loves the hotel as do we. Staff are really friendly and great fun. Food is pretty good too.
Hotel can be found on Thomson website but Thomson rooms only sleep 4. Bigger superior rooms can be booked direct with hotel though so if you liked the look of it I could PM you the e mail address to get a quote.

Been here twice and I know my 17 year old would be happy to go again!
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D

Hi I have PM'd you. Another option would be interconnecting rooms with Thomson. May not be so bad if you could get a free child place.
