I recently purchased a windows 7 laptop

On several websites I keep getting annoying popups saying "this website wishes to download adobe flash from adobe systems incorporated". However whether I press install or no it seems to keep popping up every time I use the site!

My virus checker is Avast

All I get with that link and any other to flash, is this message, perhaps thats the problem, they are automatically trying to upgrade you to an incompatible version?

Flash Player 10.1 is not currently available for Internet Explorer 9 (64-bit) Beta.

Download a preview release of Flash Player that includes optimized support for Internet Explorer 9 Beta (32-bit and 64-bit) from Adobe Labs

Uninstall any previous versions of Flash Player before installing this prerelease build.

Well it installed, but would Flash alter ActiveX security settings? I can't get into Egg money manager now, since it thinks I don't have ActiveX enabled, which it is.

It may be just a coincidence and Egg have cocked up.All the recommended security settings are correct as listed here.

If no luck, I'd try the 32-bit version of IE.
Might be already at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

Yip your right Grumpy crab, no problems with the 32 bit version!

However, egg money was working on the 64 bit version earlier in the week

Could ActiveX filtering enabled be causing your popups?

Well Done Grumpycrab looks like you have worked this one out! Message from Egg (albeit after telling me it is to do with cookies not being purged!)
There's been a recent problem using Egg Money Manager if you've recently upgraded to Windows 7.

Our Technical Team have noticed that there's an issue using the 64bit Internet Explorer as it requires the use of 64bit versions of any ActiveX controls downloaded.

Therefore to use Egg Money Manager under a 64bit Windows you'll need to use the 32bit version of Internet Explorer. However this is being looked into by the relevant department.

The majority of ActiveX controls don't yet support the 64bit platform.

I can't tell you to change any of these settings on your PC as I?m not IT trained. I don't know if this would affect any other software or settings currently on your PC.

I can however confirm this is the reason why Egg Money Manager isn't working. It'd be up to you if you'd like to change any settings to reflect the above information given to you.

    Thanks for your message.
