Car contract hire - is maintenance a good buy?

Options
My company car is up for renewal in September and I've been getting quotes. I'm shocked to find prices have gone up by 30% in three years! As a result, I'm considering not including the maintenance package - are these really a good buy?

My current car, a Golf V Bluemotion, has been serviced twice in 55000 miles, had the aircon serviced and a set of new wiper blades.

The maintenance option costs around £1200 over three years.

So my questions are:

What would the above work have cost, carried out by a main dealer?

Is there anything expensive that could have needed doing, that would not have been covered by warranty?

Thanks for any advice!

    Easily less than £1200.

To be fair the standard seems to be around £30 a month for maintenance

    x 36 months £1080 - racks up easily.

I work for a contract hire company, and a couple of things that would be covered in the maintenance package that wont be covered by warrantly are tyres (new set every 12-15k or so), servicing, breakdown cover and the MOT (which on a 3yr contract will probably need doing just before the car is returned)

With most of the company cars we provide, the customers opt for maintenance

A service is probably £150 to £300 per year depending on the schedule, aircon service is £45, wiper blades are negligible.

If tyres are covered there's that too.

The vast majority of things that can break are covered under warranty - but that's not what a maintainance plan is for.

I was told we make a profit of only about 4% on our maintenance packages

i would take that with a very large pinch of salt
put it this way would you take all the hassle for a 4% return?
    :)

I assume they make money from the actual lease too - many companies would just look for another provider if they couldn't get maintainance.
