Vaillant Boiler High Water Flow Problem

Last few weeks the water flow on our 1994 VCW 242E RSF Combi Boiler has been acting up. The water flow is fast on turning the tap on and no hot water is the result...turn off the tap and turn on and the flow slows slightly and the boiler fires up fine so hot water is back to normal again. I do have B G yearly checkover due very soon but in the meantime wondered if anyone has any idea on this issue. Thanks Dianne.
p.s. Replacement boiler is on a 'list still' but has not made it to the top as yet.

could be the diverter valve or a sensor. or maybe the PCB at fault.Get some gorm.0

thanks for that info I will let you know the outcome afterthe bgas service is done in a while.0

Hi,
Something like the divertor as said, or diaphram ?
I wonder if the suggestion will be that the boiler is 'old' and 'spares are unavailable' how about I arrange for a 'sales advisor' to visit you.
It should be repairable.
Or maybe bring it further up the list.

Thanks for suggestions. Last years service we where made aware that not all parts are available now....just had to replace our sliding patio back door... another £1000 gone:eek:...........we knew we would have at some stage likewise the boiler might just give up too on us.0

Hi,
Don't believe them. Try and get them to pin down the fault and post back.

The info as I understood....It seems its the switch that is failing that is to do with the water flow......basically to repair/replace this switch other connections are likely to fail onlong the way
I have at risk notice but boiler is still in use at the moment.
I have BG sales appointment this morning as we have almost decided that we have to have a new boiler NOW:eek:. I will contact you and see if you can advise me. thanks Dianne0 -
well first advice is , DON'T use BG to install the Boiler , bet their quote will be at least TWICE what you can get someone else to do it forEx forum ambassador

If you have a maintenance contract then get them to fix it. Most (not all) parts ARE available for this boiler. You'd be pretty unlucky to have a fault that just 'happens' to need an obsolete part.
These boilers, whilst old, are very well made and if other joints fail as a result of changing the flow switch, so be it, they'll need to fix those too.
Get them to fix it, its what your paying for after all.You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0
