How should I submit my DLA form & do they acknowledge it?

After over two weeks I have finally managed to complete this form. It sure does take your energy - what little you have:)

So I have downloaded the form, where I have been able to type in the answers, and have printed the copy off.

So what do you think now? Should I post it recorded delivery? And do they send you an acknowledgement of receipt? Or shall I phone in a few days and ask if they have it, or will they not like this type of enquiry?

We posted hubby's one normal post, we didn't have an acknowledgement from them, I guess it would take up a lot of time to acknowledge everybody who applies.
We got a result about 2 weeks later but some take longer, probably if they're waiting for medical reports.

If you haven't heard in a couple of weeks give them a ring.

Oh, and the very best of luck to you xx

They normally send an acknowledgement a couple of weeks after receiving the forms. If you don't get that, then give them a call to ask, I've found they are helpful with little things like that.

    Absolutely post it recorded delivery.
Photocopy, or take pictures of the completed form.
They do, unfortunately, lose post. If you have the proof of posting, and the delivery confirmation, you can then submit a copy, and have it treated as if it was made at the time of reciept of the first. (generally)
At best it takes them a week to notice that they've got any post, so they won't know before this that they have it. It can be a fair bit longer.

Yes I have the master copy in the envelope and will post by recorded delivery. I also have my file copy. So now start sweating about seeing a Doctor. Also seeing my own GP in the next few days to seek their support. Shouldn't be a problem as he was more than glad to support my ESA claim a few months ago. That was thrown out within days as I was three weeks of the right sort of N.I. stamps short.

They are possibly the best department of the DWP that I've ever spoken to. When I first claimed my HRM, I contacted them and they told me who was holding it up so I was able to chase it up as well as them. They also work weekends (but may not include this in the 40 days, not sure) to try and catch up and make phone calls for more information from people etc, so they are pretty good. I don't think they'll have a problem with you phoning to check they have it if want to really be sure.
