insurance please help

My other half has not held an insurance policy in her own name for just over 2 years. We are now going back to two cars and at the moment am unable to find a company that will allow her to use her no claims bonus although she has not claimed ever in 20 years driving. Any help much appreciated.

  • I cant understand why you are having trouble,we were in the same position a few years ago when my husband was driving on my policy. He also had motorcycle insurance in his own name.

When he sold the bike and bought another car they were not interested in his bike no claims but allowed him discount for being on my policy and having previous no claims.

We worked this out to being the equivalent of a full no claims give or take.Although we arranged cover through my staff discount system, other companies were willing to offer discount, sorry i cant remember who!! i would shop around again if i were you.

NCB has a shelf life of 2 years normally.

    Use it or lose it.

Edited to say - insurers aren't charities. There is no benefit to them in giving your wife any NCB, so you are unlikely to find anyone that will.

nobody is looking for charity just a fair deal, it means that if you only own one vehicle most of the GESTAPO insist it is only insured by the name on the log book,so we will change ownership every year to comply. Always remember brazillianwax all insurance is based on fear, usually by the gun they put to your head.

Depends if you are married or not. If you aren't they'll want the car insured in the legal owner's name (there isn't a legal relationship between you and a partner if you aren't married).

And no, insurance is based on risk. And it's compulsory for a reason.

  • I had similar problems when coming out of a company car after 7 years.

I used Martin's cost cutting article to get the best quotes, then rang up to confirm prices. I eventually got a policy with Equity Red Star via Insure and Go.

My employer provided a letter to state I had no fault claims during the time I was on their policy.

Was your wife on your policy and will your insurer or broker do aletter to say no claims during x years?
    I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.

Yes brazillianwax we r married, and no it is based on fear also you r always 100% covered for what will not happen to you, get an inkling for anything that might, let them know and they will omit it with imediate effect. Don't buy in store's for two years and they don't hike the price up. Never had a mortgage never had house insurance saved a fortune. Insurance = leagle robbery, more honest to use a gun.
