Have you approached the employer about helping with costs? This is awkward l know but they may be able to help. Jobcentre has v little money to put towards things like this unfortunately. Also is the interview where you will be based? You need to consider carefully how you will fund travel once you start work if sucessful or fund a fast move to the new area. I would really advise against a loan as they are likely to be at an extortionate rate and difficult to repay unless you got the job and could make a difficult financial situation even worse.

Hi, i don't really want to ask them as i applied for the job knowing it was miles away, truth is my bf died and ive not worked for nearly two years due to it.
I want to move and make a new start.
If i got the job i would be working all over the uk all expences paid.
So i would only need to pay to get to where the company is based and a few weeks, months later home again.
Hopefully in the future when i can afford i will move to wherever the job is.
So its just help with the travelling to the interview i need.
I have no-one to ask, thats why i thought of the loan tho i know its not ideal.

I am guessing that the OP actually wants the job. Given that there are likely to be many other people capable of doing the job (no offence OP!), telling an employer to get stuffed is not going to get them very far!

True and i do really want this job.

Not sure will have to find out, thanks.
  • How far are we talking about and how much will it cost to get there? How does this compare to what you'll be earning in the job? Is it an interview or an induction?
MSE aim: more thanks than posts :j

Roughly 33 miles away, About £20 a day return over 3 days, its an interview over 3 days like an induction.
    Thanks

I don't think there is a DWP loan for these type of situations though do enquire. As far as I know the only thing the DWP would be able to do is provide money through the Advisor Discretionary Fund, which is a small pot of money which can be used to help those who have been on JSA a while with interview costs etc. Unfortunately if your advisor has already said they can't help then it seems your out of luck as far as that goes. As a last attempt (there is no other viable way of getting the money to attend) I would approach the employer. After all you lose nothing by asking if you can't make it any other way. Best wishes
    Halifax £744 and coming down
