How much should I save before having a baby?

    As a newborn my daughter grizzled unless she was next to me and wouldn't settle, in the end I moved the furniture round a bit and plonked the carrycot on top of a blanket box next to the bed as I wasn't convinced about cosleeping either.

    It might be recommended to help reduce the risk of SIDS but I think that also the baby does need to know that he or she's not alone and mum is nearby. Saying that I know people who have plonked baby in their own room from word go and been totally fine.
