Just sold a caravan on ebay for £580, buyer asks for phone number to arrange paying/collection etc. Then get another email saying this

"Hi there i am so so sorry about this my husband has just come home with a caravan hes bought of some one at work and forgot to mention it to me just turned up with it so hence we dont want 2 im truely sorry and im very sure as soon as you put it back on it will go sorry for waisting your time kind regards j***y"

Now i am furious because i have to pay fees etc insertion and final value, so i sent off an email saying i would look to this person to at least settle my fees. Also noticed thru the bidder history this person has bid on several caravans that finish today and i think they have been hedging their bets, but have been caught out. I mean who forgets to tell their other half they have just bought a caravan!!

I have offered the van to the second person and explained what has happened, but when i tried to open the seller dispute, the only box i can tick says "We have both agreed to cancel the transaction"

is this because i have relisted the item as a second chance offer?
or is there another way to recoup my fees from this person??

I would wait for 4 days & open a NPB but then you may of course lose the under bidder. You would then get your FVF's back but the listing fees are of course lost.
I would be tempted to contact the other sellers & see if Jenny did the same to them all & maybe go to ebay en masse, hopefully they would give her however many strikes & she then wouldn't be able to bid on most peoples listings.

You may also find a problem with the under bidder. I would be wondering what I would have had to bid without the non payer bidding.

You have now effectively sold the item to two buyers, and either of them could buy, leaving you at risk of getting bad fb from the other one.
You need to wait 4 days and file a NPB case, the buyer would get a NPB strike (if they get two they will be blocked by most sellers), and you'd get your FVF back.

If you haven't done so, you can block any buyer with more than 2 NPB strikes.

because i am out of pocket in fees!, how would you feel if it happened to you?

If they agree to cancel then you'll get your fees back...

You get your fees back from a mutual, don't you ? Except listing fees. I'm sure I did last time.

You run the risk of them not agreeing to it and then can't reopen a non mutual dispute and lose all fees.

If she happily bid on several hoping to win just one, hopefully at least two sellers will go through with a NPB case, as then she'll have blocked herself from bidding on most listings.

OP you have two choices re non payment.

Open a mutual at any time. The buyer either cooperates or not. If they cooperate and agree, you get your fees back. If they decline, you don't get your fees back. If they do nothing, after 7 days the mutual can be closed and you get your fees back. Both the buyer and seller can still leave feedback.

Open a NPB (non paying bidder) on day 4 (to the minute of the purchase time). The buyer must pay within the next 4 days. If the buyer pays, job done. If the buyer doesn't pay, exactly 4 days after opening the NPB you can close it. The closure by you recoups your fees and gives the buyer a strike. Two strikes and effectively they cannot bid any more on anything. If the NPB runs it's course, the buyer cannot leave feedback.
