Combi Boiler cuts out and needs resetting plus water temperature varies

Hi everyone we've just bought our first house and are having a few teething problems.
Just before he handed us the keys the previous owner told us that occasionally the boiler cuts out and you have to flick the switch to reset and it works again. Lo and behold - it cuts out half way through my first shower!!! Any ideas?? Also the water temperature varies quite a bit even when no one else in the house is running a tap. The shower has 'thermostatic' written on it which I thought was supposed to keep a regular temperature at the expense of water pressure if necessary. Did I get this wrong or do the boiler and/or shower have faults??
I know it's probably impossible to accurately fault find by internet forum but any guidance would be very welcome - the boiler going wrong was probably our biggest concern as first house buyers but as the conveyancing docs said the boiler had been serviced in April we were hoping we would be lucky.

Hi!!
I had this problem in my old house, Very annoying, I managed to get half way through and bam it went cold, not very nice at all!!
We got out a bloke to do it and he took off the cover and there was a battery in there (Like a watch/hearing aid battery, you know round and flat), This is apperantly what controlled it or something, anyway it was loose so he recconected it and it worked fine, Your boiler may be different but worth a look The bloke only charged us a tenner (We do live in spain though!) But take off the cover and look, I think it was near the top if the connection is loose recconect or try a new battery, Fixed our boiler no problem :j
Let me know if it works for you :-DI dont have to show riches, To pull up, Pull of with some bad b*tches, It's about my persona, Aint nothing like a man that can do what he wanna0
