    Any good?
    I've found a car I want already.

Do you just put in a bid, then turn up and take it away?

No idea. It makes me sad every time I look at it though :rotfl:

There's a Picanto like mine on there that looks like it hasn't even been PDI'd and has had a heavy front end smash

Copart took over my local Salvage dealer/auction. The previous name had the buying terms etc on their site. Should imagine Copart will have the same.

IRC and my memory serves me right it wasn't just a case of rocking up bidding and being on your merry way...

£50 to register, that'll give you till 31st December.

Looking for something for my son to work on (theres a mk1 fiesta and a few minis) or I like the look of a Blackbird for myself.

A workmate goes to the Whitburn one, I'll need to see if it's any different registering on the day.

Cant see me paying £50 on the off chance of finding something, any other similar auctions I've went to have been expensive.

I have heard they are now not as good as before the American co Copart bought them over, prices have increased, charges have increased and even hardened crash damaged repairers have had their trousers oulled down.

Go on the Car Mechanics Mag forum, lots of blokes on there have bought loads from there.

There are still bargains to be had, but you need to be careful.

There is also HBC Salvage, they have three branches. Never bought there, but they have an online auction and have been going for years.

You will be fighting a hoard of Eastern Europeans to buy (especially at the cheaper end). I use a friend's account when I buy. You will not really get any chance to inspect the vehicle. The cherokee was delivered via forklift and dumped on to the trailer.

When buying I have a thing about airbags so tend not to buy when they have gone off one less expensive thing to fix. Before buying check ebay to see if there are any cars being broken for spares. Buying new parts is just the road to ruin especially on uncommon cars.

When pricing up what I can pay I knock 30% off the trade in price (for a Cat D) then deduct repair costs. Remember it almost always costs a bit more to fix than you think it will.

When I bought the Cherokee I was a bit naughty and paid £200 more than my maximum bid.

If you buy remember in this day and age it is pretty hard to sell on write offs so copy and keep all the accident photos from the copart site so that future buyers can see the damage.

Do you have to turn up with a trailer on the off chance you win, or can you pick it up the next day?
