Price differences on Amazon

I've just had a look on Amazon at a book I want to list & the HB copy I have varies from 98p up to £20.
Does anyone know why anyone would list the same used book for the higher price? I'm sure there's a reason but I can't think of it.
Also does anyone know why the used paperback version often seem to be listed for a higher price than the hardback?

there are often anomialies with pricing on amazon - just go at a competitive price that you are happy with.

Well it depends on the book but if it's not a large seller then there may come a time when the £20 is the lowest price. Also non-subscription sellers can't afford to sell books at a low price as those paying the monthly fee can this is why you can't generally compete with penny books. It might also depend on condition and if the higher priced book is a first edition / first printing. Try to use a much of the description area as you can, describe the condition and some of your terms this will justify a higher price, buyers don't always go for the lowest priced copy.

I have a book (a paperback) that I was looking to sell and it's on Amazon marketplace (new) for £106! It's only a Shetland dictionary! The used versions go from £12 to £46. It's only a wee book.

They all seem to be pretty large sellers so probably have subscriptions. As far as I know the HB of that year is the 1st edition.
It's just such a big difference.
I have hundreds of books to sell, for years I've picked up old interesting looking books, I'm a bit weird, I like the smell of old books. I can't keep them all & need the money so will start listing more of them.
I'm just really puzzled by the price range, I don't know whether to try a few on ebay at a mid range price.
Some Amazon don't have & I'm the only one with it listed so that's difficult to decide a price.

It's really difficult to know what to ask for it when there's that big a difference isn't it.

I know. I'd feel really guilty. We bought it for about a fiver. I wouldn't want to appear greedy, yet I wouldn't want to sell it for £3 and someone come along and buy it from me and then sell it on and make £40. :rotfl:

I sold something on ebay a couple of weeks ago that I'd listed a few times, there were a couple of others on at the same time so I started mine at a similar price. It always had loads of watchers,but no bidders. I got fed up so relisted it at £19.99, bu55er me a new ebayer suddenly popped up & bought all of them, mine for £19.99 & the others for between £80-£120. Gutted:rotfl:
In future I must keep it on BIN.

Hmm, similar to what I said, well it had 4 letters in there anyway.
I was sooooo hoping that one of the other watchers would have bid that time, but no they just continued watching.
