that is scary.....
i have noticed a increase of "rubbish" mail, with the address slightly different...
even though I request no storage of my info, or newsletters etc etc0 -
I've heard of this happening before...
When a friend of mine moved house... the new tenants decided to send off for DVDs and CDs in my friends name. It wasn't until months later that my friend was tracked down by Britannia demanding payment!
It was eventually sorted out, but took a few months and lots of phone calls...Stephen

Try sending the mail back to them in the envelopes they provide saying you didnt request it - after a couple of goes they normally stop sending it, had same problem with capital one took about 6 returned envelopes stuffed full of junk mail - but they got the message in the end. Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T0

I believe that as the law stands, if you recieve anything through the post that you did not order, you do not have to return it at your expense, you cannot use it though but it is up to the sender to recover the item(s)0

Thanks for making people think about what their details are being used for, mollytrundle. I've moved the thread over to the warnings board.

Correct. That's why the Unsolicited Goods & Services Act 1971 was introduced.elvis_bloggs wrote:I believe that as the law stands, if you recieve anything through the post that you did not order, you do not have to return it at your expense, you cannot use it though but it is up to the sender to recover the item(s)
"Someone who receives goods in these circumstances may retain them as an unconditional gift, and does not have to pay for or return any unwanted goods. Anyone who receives a demand for payment for unsolicited goods should report the matter to their local Trading Standards Department, whose details can be located from http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/."30 years, 217 days!0 -
..... But you'd be a lot better off if you just rang them up and asked for some pre-paid packaging or for pick-up by a courier.
It may well state that but it in no way whatsoever stops these companies hassling you and putting bad debts against your address.
It's not worth it for a few measly CD's!Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you![/SIZE]0
