A Postage question do i complain

Ok, there were 2 golf clubs on ebay selling by the same person. I won them both and the postage was £8 each, however the seller billed me the price of the 2 clubs and £10 for postage, obviously they came together rather than in 2 boxes.
The parcel came which was posted second class and the cost was £4-95. Now do i make a fuss about the other £5-05.
When i charge for postage i only charge what it costs, i never make profit out of postage, to me this is a way of getting more money out of a buyer. also when someone buys expensive items from me such as golf clubs i always use a recorded service, this parcel was not recorded.
The 2 clubs cost me £130 which was a fair price but still i hate it when im over charged for postage. Do i let this go or do i complain.

Let it go. You knew what the postage charge was and were happy to pay it at the time.0

Your not just paying for the postage - there is also the packaging, trip to PO, fees. I think it was a reasonable price - as you obviously did by buying & you should let it go.Aug 2006 £18,415.49

I agree - at the end of the day you were given a postage discount of £6.00 anyway or in other words, you were only charged an extra £2.00 on the 2nd club.
Remember - postage charges cover packaging, time taken to go to the post office etc etc. This could be this persons business, or they could be away from the post office.
You feel you got a fair price on the clubs - then leave it at that.

I know what you mean it has happened to me as well, when I mentioned it to a friend who is an experienced ebayer she said it is common and the seller usually guess the postage and some win some lose. I didn't like that answer and thought it was a deceiful way to get more money. It was the first time I used ebay and TBH the last.
So my long winded answer is prob let it go but if it annoyed so badly don't use that buyer again.0 -
More than decent seller gave you a discount that he didn't have to. As has been stated P+P has to cover a host of things:-
Wages for the packer (could be the seller)
Paper for packing slip
Ink
Depreciation on the Printer
Sellotape
Packing materials
Petrol to Post Office
Time at Post Office
Cost of Postage
PayPal Charge on Postage element.
etc...
Buyers should realise that selling on EBay is about making money and not some altruistic hobby!
If you don't like the charges don't BID.
The Royal mail has a great web site where you can spend hours deciding if a sellers postage fees are reasonable. If you think a discount is appropriate ask the seller before you bid NOT after.0 -
you agreed to postage at time.. were given discount too.. and NOW u wanna complain?
Personally id tell u to go pap !!!!!! @ the moon

To be honest I sell the occasional item on ebay just when Im having a clear out and as I dont drive it takes me an hour to do the journey. I package my item properly and post next day so I think adding extra to my postage is fair. Large companies have staff to pay for and this is reflected in their prices too. Plus they make a lot more deliveried so can share the delivery prices whereas private sellers do not have this. Would you prefer if the price of the item was higher and postage less?Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
