yes it is albany.
they have been not too bad i think....but i havent really had experience of anyone else...
it has been delays waiting for the other side to respond...
at this point I dont mind them being slow as long as they get a result.:(
Maybe they have been not bad as I have also been calling them up every so often asking what is happening.
They organised my repair within one week....0 -
Try googling "Albany Assistance" or do a search of MSE forums for "Albany" to see what is in store0

Crap thats what I have been doing.....
I am getting the feeling that I am in a bit of trouble now....
Surely the fact that the court route has been started is a good thing?0 -
Who actually paid for the car repairs, was it Admiral or more likely Albany under a credit repair ?0
-
think it was albany.
i have just spoken to them about my concerns now and they have stated that no matter what happens none of the costs will come back to me at all?
Also I have not paid an excess on the policy?
are they just messing me about? I am really confused:(0 -
You won't have paid an excess as Albany paid for the repairs under a credit hire agreement (Similarish to a credit hire) eg you did not claim off your Admiral policy.
Albany have (Supposedly) started proceedings, this is to recover their outlay for the repairs and credit hire.
You may not be liable for the costs (Assuming you have not miss led them about the circumstances of the accident). However they can require you under the credit agreements you signed, to assist them in any way in pursuing their costs from the other Insurer.
I strongly recommend you photocopy anything you send them and send it by recorded delivery as they usually pretend they have not received post or lose it.
If you stay with an Admiral company, do not use Albany in the future as they really are hard work.
For the record, Albany will have paid Admiral circa £300 commission for passing you over for the credit hire and possibly a commission for the credit repair.0 -
firstly Dacouch, thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my questions. Im so not sure about what is going on so I really appreciate it.:T
Yes albany have said that I have to assist them and this may involve going to court to put forward my version of events. I am fine with this tbh as I will stick to my story. I know they will prob try to twist things but if I stick to it, Im guessing it should be fine.
Albany did do the "we have not received stuff". It was letters and diagrams that I had scanned and sent by email so it could be processed quicker. After a couple of letters saying they hadnt received things, I got a really nice lady on the phone who said she would stay on the phone while I emailed her again and then checked she could open all of the documents and it was all there...
Do you have any idea what will happen to my no claims discount? No one can tell me what will happen if the guy continues to deny involvement. When I called up a month ago I was told that my no claims was still in tact and had not been affected. I am due to renew my insurance in a months time...
At times I feel like I should have just paid my garage to repair the bumper myself as it would be less hassle.
Just cant believe the idiot who is denying it!0 -
Your no claims bonus is affected if you claim from your Elephant Policy, as they have passed the buck to Albany your no claims bonus will not be effected. However, until Albany recover their losses or you recover any of your out of pocket losses the claim will be noted as your fault.
Your renewal and quotes with other companies will thus be including a fault claim loading. Should Albany recover their outlay (You need to allow circa 12 months with Albany) you may be able to go back to your insurers with proof they have recovered and get the loading back (Note they may still include a smaller loading for a non fault accident)
You can see how well organised Albany are by how they have managed to lose the previous emails / letters you sent them. The saying you cannot polish a t()rd is especially appropriate with Albany0 -
ahh thank you Dacouch for clearing up something that I have been asking for a few months.
the reason I went with elephant this time is they were actually decent when I wrote off my car 3 years ago. This time I pulled out of a junction and hit a speeding car but as I was in the wrong it was my fault. It did take 4 weeks for them to confirm my car was a writ eoff and send me out an acceptable amount..although it was an nccrease of £3500 from their initial amount
The thing is I had just renewed my insurance but they refunded me the whole amount minus 1 month and it was all sorted in the space of 5 weeks.
Even when the guy in the other car came back 8 months later an sent me a bill for health stuff, elephant told me to fax it over to them and they dealt with everything...
I am really really hoping that albany follow this example and get it sorted....
Im the type of person who worries about everything and this isnt helping....0
