I know this may sound corny and, no doubt, you have heard it a million times before, but, as a mam, the best pressy is just to have all my kids with me. For the last couple of years they have come round, cooked the dinner and we have all had a smashing day. No need for expensive presents or flowers that cost a fortune, just let your mam know what she means to you.

Asda are doing little bunches of flowers for £1 - daffodils and tulips or daffodils and another flower I can't remeber now. I think they are really sweet for little ones as it can all get a bit expensive.

Just to give you a heads up about Tesco flowers!!!!

I purchased some on line on 15 Feb in good time for mother's day. They were ordered to be delivered on 5th March and you guessed it they didn't arrive. I contacted customer services who were a wasted of time and fobbed me off that they would be delivered even if it was 12 midnight last night!!!! I waited all day, sent emails and had no response.

Anyway they have turned up this morning half dead because they were not given sufficient water and food!!!

As for value for money they cost £30 and are a really small bunch of flowers that would cost you a fiver in store!!!

Tried to ring customer services and there is a voicemail that due to high demand they are not taking any calls!!!!

Sorry to winge but I think it's disgusting, ripp off merchants!!!!

Just to say that the person who recommended the Maternity gift aid voucher was spot on, Thankyou so much I have just donated £15 which will pay for two deliveries in Ethiopia, I work in a maternity department, and we really do take for granted the care we receive in this country, my mum will receive a certificate saying this was her mothers day gift and i am sure she will be over the moon with her present, after all there is nothing more precious than the gift of life !!!!

Perryash1, thanks for mentioning www.maternityworldwide.org again. They recently supervised the safe delivery of triplets in Ethiopia. So often with a multiple birth in Ethiopia there is usually one death - if not the mother then one of the babies. In this case because of the charity's efforts all three babies and their mummy survived the birth. Isn't that so special!?
