    Could always look for a better job or work more hours... you have to earn your money. Benefits are there to allow people to make ends meat not to allow your mate to buy more beers or have SKY tv. Its only 12 months.... the whole system is broken.

    If you are 24 yo without any family support and instead of working full time, you switch to part time to be able to attend DWP courses, your income(especially in Lodon) will not allow you to both pay rent, basic bills and be able to buy food.

    If you work fewer hours (wherever you live) you will have less money.

    I didn't realise a 25yr old single person could claim benefits!

    DS is 25 and just moved out, renting, sharing with a friend, he doesn't earn a high wage - what does he need to be earning to claim anything?

    He can claim working tax credits depending on his earnings I believe....
