Do any of u clever peeps know where I can find tinned sago? I absolutley luurve it, especially cold out of the tin!:p
I haven't been able to find any for ages. I work at the co-op, we don't sell it, neither does my local asda, morrisons, tesco, aldi or lidl!

Quite a few supermarkets sell Sago in its dried form (Snotty nose pudding) .
Lovely.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
I'm glad someone else has noticed this! You can get canned Tapioca, Semolina and Rice Pudding, but Sago has completely disappeared. I love it too - bring on the snotty pudding lol!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Sago has been banned, that's why you can't find it in tins anymore.
The reason is that Friends of the Earth campaigned against it. Apparantly the frogs whose spawn it is are becoming rarer and there's worry that they may become extinct.
Personally I feel that sago is not frog's spawn, it is the spawn of satan and should be shunned. Wallpaper paste with bits in it it....AAAARGH!1 -
Hahaha, thanks for that CFC - I started reading your post thinking you were being serious, then when I got to the frogspawn bit I laughed my head off!
Yum, canned Satan's Spawn - it'll never catch on in Morrisons lol."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Haha! We love frogspawn (tapioca) in the MATH household and Sago I colour green with a little food colouring for "Not Snot Pudding"!! I always but dried grain for milk puddings and make them myself rather than buy tinned.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Its a bit like marmite then eh? Love it or hate it!
Is tapioca the same thing then?
Don't know if I could face making my own, in case it gets a 'orrible skin on like h/m rice pudding does!!
Thanx to everyone who has replyed!0 -
I had a lovely sago and co!!!! soup at a Thai restaurant once - only time I tried Sago, but I don;t think I'd buy it myself.

I always thought they were different, and it appears they are. Sago is made from a type of cycad or a palm, whereas tapioca is made from treated cassava root. However, what is meant by tapioca and sago apparently varies in different parts of the world: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapioca, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sago0 -
I too have been searching for dried Sago for ages - who does it? As some of your 'threads' say - not Morrisons, ASDA, Sainsburys, Tesco (not tried Waitrose though). What's happened. Maybe Holland & Barrett or some health food shop ?? My husband loves it (me too!)
