SMEG Dishwasher problem.. anyone able to help?

Hi
I've been in my rented house for about 2 and a half years and have just started to have a problem with my smeg dishwasher.
It's started to open the tablet dispenser, but not actually eject it, so i just get dirty pots and a half melted tablet stuck in the door dispenser.:(
I've been looking through the troubleshooting guide, but its not listed in there, and not getting much luck from all the diy sites either..
If anyone can help, it would be very much appreciated
