Sounds like our house. Our gardeb is clay but the front drains better as it is bigger and on the road.we had some patches that were worse than others. We didthe sinkhole bit with plenty of sand involved. We then converted to raised beds and sand plus bark on top for the paths.
Really helped, but the top end of the garden still gets a bit squishy when we had alot of rain for days on end.But it does seem to dry out quicker afterwards.
