car insurance for visitors from the USA

My nephews are coming over from the USA for a couple of weeks. They are aged 22 and 19. My insurance company wont let me put them on my policy as they dont have full uk Licences, they both have full international licences.

Does anyone know of a company that would insure them for a reasonable price for two weeks?

Personally i would think you would be very lucky. At 22 UK citizen ive tried to get short term deals before and generally your looking at around £4-500+.

Most people with foreign licenses (non EU) need to see a specialist broker and this costs more.

It may be cheaper to hire a car with the insurance included, though minimum age will be 21 for this.

I agree with tom188 that a hire car would be your best bet but the 19 year old may not get approval.

Do they not have insurance in the US that would cover them for a UK trip?

Hi - They would not eligible for the short period insurance provided by dayinsure.com because they are not UK residents but Downunder Insurance on 0800393908 might be able to help.They arrange temporary cover for visitors to UK and Europe on VW Campers and similar.
