Yay i have a job, well not much of a job but it's 17.5 hrs a week 5 evenings per week and one early morning. This is great because it means i can still take and pickup my son from school and leave the daytimes free to goto college for the next few years and do a plumbing course i have been interested in.
The job is monthly pay. I know i get the back to work payment of £250 and also the inwork credit of £40 a week.
He is where i need some advice. Now i gather i have to send wage slips in every 2 weeks (i think) to get the inwork credit payment. The evening job is only for 48 weeks of the year (15 hrs per week) of which 4 weeks are not paid. The morning is all year round at 2.5 hours a week. Now if you add this up i am over the 16hrs a week on average for the year. Will i still get the inwork credit for the 4 weeks i am not paid even though if on average over a year i do actually work over 16 hours a week.?
I hope i explained that so you all understand.
Oh sorry forgot to ask, does the dole money stop from the date i start or is there some sort of run on till my first payday.
I am a single parent on tax credits too if that info is of any use.

I am aware of someone in my work receiving in work credit working 35 hours per week for 9 months, as you say on average over 16 hours per week over the year but i'm afraid once her work stopped so did the credit so it is most probably based on a weekly basis.
Once the work finishes you can claim IS/JSA and top up your earnings that way and you will probably receive a 4 week run on from WTC.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -

Hi.
That is where my confusion lays.
If i start work for a few months then have to take a 2 week holiday unpaid, will the credit start up again for the rest of the first year after i finish the 2 week unpaid holiday0 -

Why would it be unpaid, you begin to accrue holidays from month 1.
Speak to your new employer, i should imagine most employers will give paid holidays as you will make up the time during the year and if not you will repay it through week/month in hand if you leave before you have accrued it.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -

Hi.
It's in a school on a 48 week contract per year. I have to take 4 weeks unpaid per year. I also get 4 weeks + bank holidays as my own holiday entitlement.0 -

In work credit is for 12 months and you can link jobs during the 12 months, for example: Jo works for 3 months 17 hours and then leaves, in work credit ceases, jo claims JSA/IS for 4 weeks and then starts a new job, her in work credit is reactivated because it's still in the qualifying 12 month period.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0
